Reminder introduction in library sources

Sometimes it’s not easy to find your way within the 300 databases and 14000 e-journals owned by the university library. To help you with this ask, the library organises introduction sessions to the databases.

Dates:
Social sciences: 14/11/2005

13.00 dutch session

Theology: 18/11/2005
MTC 01.03 auditorium MTC (Maria Theresiacollege) 01.03, Sint Michielsstraat 6.
11.00 english session

These sessions are organised per faculty and will give you an overview of the following:
1. What is LibriSource?
2. What is LibriLinks?
3. Where can I find the databases and how do I select the correct one?
4. Presentation of some major databases p.ex.: PCI, PICA, Academic Search
5. How to use the Web of Science?
6. Electronic full text journals K.U.Leuven: what are they, where can I find them and how to use them?

The sessions are for doctoral students, academic personnel and library staff. Doctoral students (EW) can valorise these sessions.

Datastream

Datastream seminars take place on 15/11/2005 (14.00 h.) and 17/11/2005 (14.00 h.) at the library (Bibsem 2).
15 november: introduction in the use of Datastream
17 november: information session for advanced users of Datastream

Please send a "reply" on the newsletter when attending the seminars. Datastream servicepack 5 has been installed in the library. Within a few weeks, staff can use it at their desks.

New database

IBSS ( International bibliography of the Social Sciences) is a new database maintained by the London School of Economics. It contains more than 2.000.000 bibliographical records in economics, sociology, politics and anthropology.

Tijdschrift voor economie en management

In a combined effort with the ICT staff of the faculty, old issues of TEM have been added to the on-line TEM archive in PDF format (up till now: 2001, 2003, 2004; other years will be added soon). These old issues are fully indexed and you can search the complete content of the contributions through the new TEM searchpage. There's also a more functional menu, in Dutch and in English, that helps you to navigate swiftly on the site.
